I believe everyone is dysfunctional (no offense), just some are more dysfunctional than others.  Only when we get to heaven will the dysfunction stop.  How can we not be?  Look at the world we are living in.  Perhaps the better question then is not are we, but HOW dysfunctional are we.  I believe a person is dysfunctional because of sin, whether our own or others.  One of the ways sin causes dysfunction is by hardening a person’s heart.  When a heart becomes hard it doesn’t care who or what it hurts, and becomes consumed with self.  After sin enters the heart it goes directly to the mind, where it corrupts it.  Sin is like a computer virus to our thinking and causes dysfunction to flourish.

We begin to make all the wrong decisions, all the wrong choices.  Everyone else is wrong and we are always right.  We justify our actions by blaming everyone else, we are always the victim.  Sin will stop at nothing to achieve what it desires, and the desires of sin always leaves a path of destruction.  It begins with bondage, causes blindness, and the final result is death caused by separation from God.

I’m so thankful that 1Timothy 1:7 tells us that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  By surrendering to Jesus I can get rid of my stinking thinking, and begin to live a healthy life.  I can stop hurting myself and others and begin to lead a rich and fulfilling life.  Because the world is out of alignment doesn’t mean that I have to be.  I use to be very dysfunctional but thanks to the mercy and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ….

I’m getting better every day.
