Ever notice how some people demand so much from you, yet want to give so little back? Ever notice how God is the complete opposite? Isn’t it amazing that Jesus gives us so much and only requires what should be so easy for us to give?
One of my favorite scriptures is Micah 6:8 “He has shown you O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” The Lord has made serving Him simple. We are the ones who complicate it. When we are struggling in our complications we should realize that we need a KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. Okay, I’ll be nice. Keep it simple silly.
When you start to feel worn down and pulled from all sides, remember what Jesus say in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Sounds real good to me.

I’m sorry to say, but I don’t remember anything that god or Jesus gave me. You can argue that he gave me life, but I wasn’t even asked if I want this life. And honestly, this life doesn’t feel good on many days.
Sun gives and asks nothing of us. She gives us warmth, and light. Sun keeps the world alive. There were no food without sun (plants can’t grow in darkness, and animals need plants to feed). Nothing to see. World would be eternally cold and dark.
I believe that Akhenaten (an egyptian pharao) was right when he declared sun to be the the presence of the highest god, impersonated it as the highest god. If there are gods, I think we can’t really find out. E.g. a god could be extremely good at hiding, how should a human ever find him? Still a world with a hiding god who is not active, to give no signs, is about as good as a world without a god. The Christian god gives no strong signs of presence in this world, at least to the eyes of an unbeliever. Everything seems to go as one would expect it to go without any gods. I don’t say god doesn’t exist. But he doesn’t do much in our world.
So I take the closer and easier concept – sun is the source of life. She keeps the solar system together. She feeds us and warms us. And she does not demand anything from us. No prayer, no sacrifice. The sun is there every day, since millions of years.
You can say that god created the sun. Maybe this is true, but we’ll never know. There are so many other suns in the universe. If god created them all, a single sun is nothing special anymore, and creating a sun must be a very common thing for a god. It’s like a putting a grain of sand at a coast. But for us, she is the life bearer.

Hi and thanks for replying. Jesus has proved Himself real to me in many ways, in ways that are very personal to me. If you have never felt the presence of God I understand why you feel the way you do. We all have good and bad days, but I have a hope, and I rest in that hope. The sun is a miracle that I thank God for. I give thanks to the creator not the creation. In the winter I have a heater that a friend gave me to help keep me warm, while I am very thankful for the heater, it is my friend that I am really thankful for. Even if there are many suns, that doesn’t minimize how awesome and wonderful a sun is. And certainly how awesome and wonderful the creator of that sun is. I will be praying for you, that your life will be full of joy and great things. And also that you will find the wonder of a relationship with the most beautiful SON. He is my life bearer.

Thank you for the kind words. I’ve been afraid of a rather harsh retort. Maybe some day I’ll see signs of god, too.
When I quit believing in god, I felt alone for a while. But it passed, and nothing has changed in my life. It’s about as good or bad as it always has been.
But I’m willing to look out for signs of higher powers. At the moment I am believing in a sort of life force, which is more or less present in everything, and which is more than the material presence. But unlike a god, it has no mind, it is not acting, and can’t be personified. It is just there.
Personally, I’m just a sun nerd. The sun can make me feel better, almost immediately, while almost everything else in my life is trying to wear me out and put me down.
Of course, if one asssumes that god created the sun, the thanks have to go to god. But with my doubts in god, and since sience says that suns are born just through the course of physical laws in our universe, there is nothing “behind” the sun for me, to be thankful for. I don’t know. I’m a searcher, full of doubts. But I try to be open for all sorts of ideas, and also to respect other peoples views – and this is m main concern today, I didn’t respect your beliefs in my reply yesterday, and also think this message could be worded more respectful. It’s good that god gives you hope. I’ve met some strong believers who drew a lot of postive emotions and stability from their beliefs. It’s been good for them, and I see that it is good.

Wow! Confirmation! I am feeling this exact way! People keep demanding so much from and I have my own issues to deal with! I am only one person and Lord knows trying to be there for my kids and fill the requests of others is burning me out! Today I wanted to jump in a hole and cover myself with dirt but I had to stop and acknowledge God…so you are right Mr. Lupis, I am going to take up His yoke!! Thanks for the encouraging words.

Thanks Stacy for your reply. I think we all feel that way at various times in our walk with the Lord. It shows us how much we need Him!

Loved reading this post, makes you think.
Jesus said His yoke is easy.
Keep your eyes on Jesus on His wonderful mercy and grace, and the things of this earth will seem strangely dim, in the light of His glorious face. (Hymn words from memory probably not quite accurate).
If we put all the ‘rubbish’ aside and focus on Jesus, on His message, what He did for us, how much happier we would be.

Great Hymn. You are right on about the rubbish, when we put it aside our burden is so much lighter!

Sorry – just to clarify, I don’t mean that anyone’s particular comments are rubbish, it’s just a term used meaning keep our eyes on Jesus and not on all the distractions that want to take away our focus on the real truth that is found in Jesus.Real life is found in Jesus,
